Ceremony Site

Overview

(Note:  This is one of the few facilities in Southern California that can seat 500 guests indoors in one room.  This facility  is also available for offsite catering which is ideal for Indian weddings)

I left this picture larger so you can get a good front view of the ceremony site. Oh, also make sure your minister is shorter than you so i can see your faces during the ceremony. :)

This is one of my favorite venues.  Kim and Robert Lee are a husband and wife team that really seem to care about their clients, and take an active interest in them.  This venue has so much to offer.  If you want a very nice outdoor venue for a ceremony, they have a decent  sized gazebo next to a lake.  If you go the route of a church wedding, the reception room is huge.   I've been going to this place for a number of years and I've literally watched it grow.  The reception room used to be a lot smaller, and the grounds not as pretty as they are now.  Every time I go back, this place just gets better and better.   It's one of the few golf courses where they actually invest money into property on a fairly consistent basis making capital improvements.  Yet the plans for Westridge will get even larger as they build A Hilton Hotel onto the site built into  the clubhouse.  Instead of knocking down the clubhouse which is new and modern looking they are adding hotel rather seamlessly.    It's going to be added where the putting tees are at now.  A drawing of the new site is in the lobby.  Interestingly enough, another ballroom will come with hotel so this site will be able to host multiple wedding receptions at the same facility.

What Type Of Bridal Couple Would Like This Place?

I'm a big fan of Westridge.   The venue really is beautiful.  It has a nice outdoor gazebo  next to the lake where the ceremony is held.  The grounds are fabulous, and I'm always impressed how well the place photographs.  The place is clean and makes a super nice presentation to your guests.   I will put this place up against places that charge $30 more per person.  The grounds are just as nice, the food is just as good, and the staff is just as diligent.

This place appeals to a lot of people. that's why during a recession while their nearby competitors experienced sales decreases Westridge posted sales growth for the year 2007 versus year 2006.  It may be because other facilities had to cut deals to book weddings in 2007 whereas Westridge  consistently gives a straightforward great deal.  People appreciate this fact as evidenced by  their very booked schedule in 2008 during a time of a recession.   So, if your interested in Westridge,  and want a Saturday evening event you may want to book early because this place is very popular.

Photographic PotentialRomantic

i think of this place as the greatest hits of golf courses.  Just about every major feature you would want in a golf course ironically this place has. Waterfall, gazebo, lake, lake with waterfall that lights up at night.  The spritzy fountain in the middle of a lake, etc.   I have a couple of different books that show how well this place photographs that I would love to show you.  One of them can be seen here.   One thing that is kinda interesting about this place is that the though it's a golf course, the grounds aren't overwhelming.    The key photo spots at this property are within walking distance from the reception site.  You won't need to get into a golf cart and cruise around the property to hit the key photo spots.  Of course, having been here many many times I know exactly where to go and when in order to take some memorable images.

Possible Distractions/ Work Around

The only thing that I can think of that is somewhat of a bummer is that people on occasion park golf carts behind the head table.  One of my brides had a simple solution for this, she put up lattice behind the head table.  She then draped it with fabric.  It looked fabulous and the problem was solved!  The other thing that may be sorta difficult about this place is that it's somewhat hidden.  The entrance to the golf course is behind a Kohls retail store .  Don't worry, it's actually easier to find than you think,  just go behind the Kohl's and you'll see the road.

The grounds photograph perfectly.

Overall Evaluation

I cannot praise this place enough, it's a great place to get married, the staff is wonderful.  Put this on you list to check out.  Yes, this is a great place!  Just to let you know a few years back a very good friend was getting married and asked me where I think he should go in order to find a very good ceremony and reception site.  Westridge was at the top of my list.  He saw it, fell in love with it, and was married at Westridge.   After all was said and done he was very thankful that I suggested this place.

The food is good, the grounds are great, but the real icing on the cake is the staff.   I do pay attention to how my clients are treated at wedding venues and since we deal with them long after the wedding day is over, I do hear about all the good things and bad things that happen at a site.  After about ten weddings at this venue, I haven't heard one complaint or criticism.  Now  I've  got stories that will make your jaw drop about  other places.  If you want to have a nice, simple, good experience on your wedding day at a lovely place, do check out Westridge!  Be sure to ask Kim about her son.   He's a good looking kid and available for dating in about another 15 years.

As I said before, this is one of my very most favorite venues to shoot at.  Photographically speaking there may be some nicer looking venues  elsewhere, but when someone comes to me with a wedding at Westridge I know we are going to have great photos and a great wedding day.  The total package that Westridge offers cannot be beat.  And basically, I am am not a little found of Kim and Robert Lee, I'm an evangilist!   Hurry up and find a way to clone these people because their are so many wedding reception sites in Southern California that need the Lee touch!

Happy couple by the fountain. I've photographed many very beautiful Asain brides at this facility. The boys near the gazebo

The spritzy fountain- Is Spritzy even a word? This is Brian and Donna, and yes they are this good looking every day of their lives.

Sunset at the gazeboWho turned out the lights?

Hold on now, these pictures are for everybody, just the sexy people!  This is one of my favorite types of photographs to take. The bride spends so much time trying to figure out color schemes and dresses, and often they are just things in the background. So I do a shot like this to highlgiht these two big decisions in regards to wedding dress and flowers. Do you see the detail of her dress?

Banquet Room-Just huge! Here's that suggestion about covering the behind the head table with a backdrop

Okay, left this picture a little larger so you can see the backgound again in the picture, see how it doesn't cover the entire table. This is all you need, great idea Donna!
