Overview

There are still undeniable great deals in ceremony/reception venues to be found. Western Hills Golf & Country Club is one of them.  After reading about this place and what I've got to say about it the big question in your mind will be, if this place is so wonderful, why is it so inexpensive?    Here's the bottom line, they don't advertise. In fact, their largest problem is that they are too much of a well kept secret.

I saw the sign! This place used to be booked constantly, and it's almost like they never got the memo that so many other places that do weddings and receptions seemed to have received, that is to advertise, do bridal show, place bridal magazine ads, and double if not triple the rates they charge for weddings. This place could easily raise it's rates at least ten dollars a plate and still do fine.  However, for the time being they are an exceptional find, and the four words that seem like you would never hear together best describes this place, a value price country club!

This was the florist they have on the refferal sheet, good job!

Western Hills is a private country club located in Carbon Canyon portion of  Chino Hills.  It's a sleepy little part of Chino Hills, and though it may not seem like it, among the homes that surround the golf course are multi million dollar mansions.   The course itself is large and picturesque, but the real thing you would be most interested in is the clubhouse.  It's a bit outdated, and perhaps someday they will tear it down and put up a palace like they did at Anaheim Hills Golf Course.  Of course, living in Chino Hills the past 15 years I can tell you first hand that the city council is often perceived as anti-business when in reality they just don't like change.  Thus large renovations that create more business and more traffic into the sleepy bedroom community that is Chino Hills isn't that warmly welcomed.    Though the clubhouse doesn't have the exciting upscale look of Coyote Hills Country Club, it is none-the-less a very pretty place to host a wedding ceremony and/or reception.

What Type Of Bridal Couple Would Like This Place?

Western Hills Country Club is by far the most under-rated wedding venue around.  I think a lot of brides have this overall notion that goes like this "I don't want to into debt for the next twenty years paying for my wedding, at the same time  I don't want someplace cheesy that will embarrass me."  Thus.  the overall goal is someplace that looks good, and seems comfortable to your guests that at the same time won't break the bank.  You can easily to that at Western Hills.  Chances are your guests will walk away thinking you spent a lot more on your wedding than you actually did.   They offer a great value for the money, good service, and a very pretty setting with a lot of great photographic potential.

Photographic Potential

Spend less on food, spend a little more on chair covers, things will be fine! The photographic opportunities may not be as obvious to some photographers, but there are plenty of them.    The course itself makes for a nice backdrop, there are rose bushes that can be utilized, and off in the front there are some nice trees and other very usable areas that make for not only great portrait photography but great candid photography.  The outdoor ceremony site actually photographs wonderfully.

Possible Distractions/ Work Around

Other than golfers there isn't that much that needs to be mentioned about this place that pose photographic distractions.   Since it's hidden away fairly well it may be a bit difficult to find.  Also, in the summer times it can get rather hot in daytime.

Overall Evaluation

The weakest link of this place is the food, it rates at very average, so if serving your guests a gourmet meal is  a priority you reallyIf you can't have fun on your wedding day, why have one? should check out La Venta Inn or Verandas which are both New York Food Company catered venues.  Or, you can look at things this way.  With the amount of money you saved by hosting your wedding at Western Hills Golf Course you can afford to buy a lot of nice dinners out with your family and friends at a later date.  Or blow the savings on a extra nice honeymoon. .  If you are like so many others who really don't care where you have your wedding reception as long as it's clean and nice, this place should be on the top of your list to check out.    Our brides tell us that once they see this place, other places just don't stack up when looking at bang for the buInside the woman's locker roomck.

Ceremony SiteAndy is starting to thin a tad, but Jen still loves him!

Andy doesn't suffer from mental illness, he actually enjoys it!Andy is so very talented at this, he can make you laugh and cry at the same ceremonyThe bride's sisters felt the entire range of emotions in one serviceIf you need some good looking people for your bridal party these guys are always up for a good party!

The background at the ceremony site works well for portraits.Okay, a little cliche for a golf course theme, but embrace the fun!

The head table is usually against the back window, which makes for nice pictures close to dusk.Honestly, does this room look the slightest bit cheesy? It rocks!
