What Type Of Bridal Couple Would Like This Place?

Pala Mesa is a perfect place for a pseudo-destination wedding  That means you can have the look and feel of a destination wedding without having to leave California.   Destination weddings are fun to attend, but a real headache to plan.   All the work that is required for a normal wedding is only amplified as you have to get mail things and work from long distances.   The benefit of a pseudo-destination wedding is that you can always jump into the car and take a drive if you need to get something done.  Close enough to get stuff done, but far enough away so that you can shorten your guest list by knocking off people who don't want to take a long drive and get a room for the night.  If your guest list can't be trimmed below 400 people, this may seem like a great option to get your guest list down to 150 people.

What's neat about Pala Mesa is that its a rare find, a  golf resort.    This means that aside from the course, the and club house there is a hotel on the property.  There are quite a few golf resorts in Palm Springs, one in La Costa, and a few others scattered about in Southern California.  In the hierarchy there are golf courses everywhere, then rarer country clubs, and resorts are the rarest of them all.  Golf resorts are nice because you have the benefit of a hotel without as many people or other activities that come with hotels.  It's more like a retreat.

There's a waterfall that runs behind the ceremony site.

If you are looking for a retreat style wedding with well manicured grounds and a destination that screams out for good photographic opportunities, this is the place.

Photographic Potential

The grounds sell themselves at Pala Mesa.  It has the most unique, and distinct wedding ceremony spot around.  The waterfall and free standing structure is incredible.  The grounds are well manicured.  They remind me a lot of The  Hyatt Newporter.   There are dozens of great places to take pictures, including an unforgettable series of stairs.   A little bit of water and a lot of greenery is what this place offers.  We didn't go outside the ceremony grounds. There may be lakes you can also use if you get a golf cart.  The service I attended was close to sunset, thus we were fighting the clock. It would be nice to explore grounds further, yet this is a very big place, Fortunately, the ceremony site just has so many opportunities that you just don't feel you need to leave it.

Possible Distractions/ Work AroundThis is how happy your groom will be when you book this place!

s a Have your guests arrive early and check into the hotel.   This place can be a little bit tricky to find, so take a GPS.  It can get warm here in the summertime.

Overall Evaluation

If you are looking for an outdoor wedding ceremony venue and feel that each place you visit looks more or less like the last one, this is the place then you should certainly check out this place.  The big selling point is the ceremony site, if you have to have a church wedding we have ideas about how to make this site work for you .  It may be a bit of a drive but you should check out Pala Mesa.  There are other venues to check out in the Fallbrook area such as  Grand Traditionand Los Willows.  If it all doesn't work out for you and you head north to go back home you can always stop off at Tom's Farms and get some great produce on the way back.  What do you have to lose?

First dance in the tent

One other thing I really need to say about this place, and I'm really trying to keep it real here is that the website for this place features a flash video presentation.    It's a little over the top. It has nice music and a soft woman's voice reading off whatever they wrote. The words were a bit flowery which is fine.  It gets to this part where they say "He promised you the moon and the stars, now here's his chance."    Yes, it's just over zealous marketing, the reality is that this place isn't as snooty as the video implies. Yet, if your groom gets offended easily by implications of what he should or shouldn't be doing, you may want to skip showing him this video.

If you are considering a Temecula Valley winery wedding, this place is about as far as the wineries, and may even be a little faster to drive to from the North and certainly the south.   Throw it on your list of potential venues and check out Los Willows and Grand Tradition while you're at it.  Los Willows is less then five miles from here.
