Overview

Imagine saying “I do” in one of the most beautiful gardens in Orange County. The 26-acre Arboretum offers several romantic settings for the perfect wedding, reception, or special event.

Large parties prefer the gently sloping South Lake Lawn. For a more intimate location, the Wisteria-covered Arbor at Heritage House offers a romantic setting for parties up to 200 guests

What Type Of Bridal Couple Would Like This Place?

This isn't like a hotel or a restaurant where all your needs are handled.  You get to pick the catering, you get to pick the florist, etc.  They may have stipulations and a list of people that they refer, but for the most part you are on your own.   Therefore, it's a nice place for a bride who isn't afraid to take on a little extra work in planning her wedding.

Photographic Potential

Though the Arboretum has been around for a very long time, weddings were something new for them as of a few years ago.  Prior to this, and still to this day the Arboretum is a great stop off point between the church and reception on the wedding day.  You can rent the grounds for a couple of hours for $100 or less.   It's one of the best locations for portraits in Orange County.  The grounds are very nice, with many lakes and of course only the best greenery you will find this side of the Fern Grotto. 

Possible Distractions/ Work Around

This place is open to the general public, though the area where you will have your reception is closed off.   You will be out amongst the people.  Also, parts of the grounds are dirt, so there is a potential for the garments to get dirty.   The location where they hold the ceremony is a little tight, and it has many lighting challenges. You need a photographer who can handle the difficult lighting of the ceremony location or you will end up with less than ideal photos.

Overall Evaluation

We've had a few clients get married at this location, and a couple who had their reception here as well  They thought very highly of the place.  You have to be open to having a reception outdoors in order to utilize this place.  This means that you will most likely need to have your wedding in the summer or fall.  Unlike having an indoor wedding, weather will be a factor.    Still if your dreams are to have an outdoor wedding, and if you aren't afraid of some extra work this is a fantastic location!
